MySQL group Malta - first meeting
MySQL group Malta - first meeting
MySQl group in Malta - first meeting
Friday, 1 August 2008
A few weeks back I received a message from a co-worker, saying there was someone trying to start a MySQL user group in Malta. I was interested in attending but given that I didn’t know what to expect I was still undecised. The day came, we met in Mellieha around 6:30pm and walked to a local restaurant “Il-Mithna” where we had a few drinks and Nicklas did a small presentation about his idea of starting this group.
Following Nick’s introduction we were discussing some bugs and problems we stumbled into during our careers. The discussion then delved into kickfire technology about which I was very interested in reading once arrived at home. XAPRB have a good blog about the technology you can find it here.
In the end, as Nick said, it was a good turn over and a great start. Meeting technical people with whom you can share both the happy and the sad parts of living the MySQL DBA life was cool and it should get even cooler as we’ll get to know each other better.
If you live in Malta and use MySQL, especially if you are a DBA you should email Nicklas on westerlund (at) pythian.com and ask for more information. The next meeting, scheduled on Thursday 28th August 2008, will be held in central Malta. Whilst hoping to see you there I encourage readers to forward this blog to anyone they deem interested.
